I've lost count when it comes to how many books I've read trying to come up with an explanation for the darkness that the Wizarding world is experiencing. So far, I haven't found anything even remotely useful. I think the next step may be asking if I can use the Restricted Section in the Hogwarts library; whatever spell was used was probably darker magic than anything my book collection contains.

I saw the cutest little girl in Diagon Alley today. I'm not sure that she was old enough to even read, but she was carrying around a book all the same.
Which brings me to my point, which is not really at all about small children. After Percy mentioned the Ministry considering more charity events which hopefully won't be due to them trying to distract us from their little experiments I was thinking that perhaps we could organise something to assist with Flourish and Blotts being rebuilt. Diagon is still not really the same without it.
